Search Process

A key component of our success is our award winning 30-Step Search Process a proven process that allows us to produce outstanding results in minimum time. The steps are broken into the following sections:

      Perform Needs Assessment

Establish Search a Plan

 Implement the Search Plan

Meet the Candidates

Getting the Top Candidate on Board

Keeping Things "On Track"

Here's how we go about it.

PERFORM NEEDS ASSESSMENT

1.  Through in-depth discussions, Pangaea and the Client develop the following:

a.   A complete analysis of the Client's needs.

b.   A Performance Profile of the ideal candidate (including Track Record of Accomplishments, work experience, preferred company background, and personality/cultural fit).  (Link to Position Definition)

c.   Define measurable goals and want you expect the “new hire” to accomplish in the first 90, 180, and 360 days of employment? (Can be used for Annual Review of hired candidate)

d.   Identify all members of the Client Hiring Team and achieve consensus of hiring decision points.

e.   Gather ideas for effective methods of attracting the appropriate candidates.

2.   Pangaea creates a formal Search Assignment Profile and submits it to the Client for approval.

3.   The Client reviews and approves the profile and confirms the recruiting process and the time line.

4.   The Client and Pangaea schedule a time for formal weekly progress reports on the status of the search.

ESTABLISH A SEARCH PLAN

5.   Pangaea identifies the Project Lead, creates a Search Team, goes over the scope and timeline of the search, and reviews the benefits of the Client's opportunity.  We will put a team of recruiters, researchers and administrators on the project which is appropriate to the size, scope, and urgency of hire.

6.   The Pangaea Team develops a Project Search Plan which targets candidates. (Potential resources may include, the client-developed preferred target account list; internal and external databases; key industry contacts and external professional associations, and institutions.)

7.   The Pangaea Research team is engaged to identify potential candidates within target companies. (associations, membership directories, chat lists, published white papers, etc.)

8.   Pangaea obtains additional Client input if needed regarding the Project Search Plan and implementation.

 IMPLEMENT THE SEARCH PLAN

9.   Pangaea develops call lists and begins contacting the most likely targets first.

10  Initial conversations are made with target candidates. Pangaea assesses individuals by asking a series of consistent questions as determined from the Search Assignment Profile.  A status record is maintained on each potential candidate, regarding interest level, qualifications, obstacles, etc.

11. The Pangaea Account Executive (AE) reviews the quality of candidates sourced and determines if there is a need for any modification in strategy.

12  The AE works with viable candidates on their candidate career decision points to qualify the potential that  the candidate would accept Client's opportunity.  (Link to Candidate Decision Points)

13. If relocation is involved, Pangaea works with viable candidates on defining the candidate's lifestyle decision points, and introduces the candidate to a Relocation Counselor (FAS) to qualify the potential that the candidate would relocate if an offer was extended.   (Link to FAS)

14. The AE and the client team further screen the potential final candidates through in-depth phone interviews.

MEET THE CANDIDATES

15. Pangaea presents profiles of the top Candidates to the Client for review.

16. The Client informs the AE which candidates he or she wants to interview and interview times are scheduled. In order to expedite the process and not lose desirable candidates, a plan for close communication immediately before and after each interview is established between the Client and Pangaea.

17. The AE coordinates appointments for interviews with the selected candidates. Interviews may take place by phone, video conferencing, or face-to-face meetings. In most locations, videoconference facilities are available through nearby Pangaea affiliates.

18. The Recruiter creates a "Candidate Summary Sheet", which matches the Candidate's accomplishments to the Client’s hiring decision points and provides it to the Client prior to the first interview.

19. Pangaea works with each Candidate to prepare them for each interview.

20. Pangaea also prepares the Client for each interview, including how to best attract specific Candidates and any issues that may need special attention.  (Link to Client Prep)

21. Following the interview, the AE debriefs the Candidate and the Client to identify any gaps from either party's perspective and determine if the candidate is a “pass or pursue.”   This is one of the most critical steps in the process.  It is imperative that all parties commit to a follow-up conversation as soon as possible after the interview.

GETTING THE TOP CANDIDATE ON BOARD

22. The Client informs the Project Lead of his or her selection of final candidates to move forward with and subsequent interviews are scheduled.

23. If the Client wishes, Pangaea checks references and facilitates background checks.

(Link to Background Checking)

24. The Pangaea prepares the candidate for additional interviews and keeps runner-up candidates available until an offer has been finalized and accepted.

25. The AE prepares a through compensation breakdown of final candidate prior to the final interview and provides the Client with the Candidate's offer acceptance requirements.

26. The Team works closely with the Client to assist in structuring a win-win offer and compensation package for the desired Candidate.

27. Pangaea presents the offer.

28. Upon acceptance of the offer, Pangaea counsels the Candidate regarding resignation from the current employer and dealing with counter-offer issues. We also keeps track of relocation milestones to assure a smooth transition for all parties.

KEEPING THINGS “ON TRACK”

29. In order to preserve the quality of the hire, Pangaea stays in touch with the new employee, from the point of offer acceptance, through the start-date and beyond into their career.

30. In order to continually improve our services, the Pangaea team seeks evaluations from the Client and the Candidate regarding the search/hire process
