Hiring Process

Our goal is to provide you the best possible candidates, in the shortest time frame possible, with the highest probability of achieving a successful hire. Establishing consensus among decision makers for all candidate performance objectives and having an agreed upon and defined hiring process are the most critical aspects in determining if the search will be successful.

The following is the process we encourage our clients to follow in order to make certain all parties understand and can abide by the process.  We have found that this process reduces anxiety and frustration for our clients, candidates and our firm.

I.  Develop a well-defined candidate performance profile
     (refer to position definition)

II.   Define the hiring process:

  • Determine when you want the candidates on board. (ideal and drop-dead dates).  Start the search 90 days out from when you need the candidate to show up for their first day of work.

  • Determine who will be involved in the interviewing process for a specific position.

  • Determine how many and what types of interviews are required (phone, in-person, technical, etc.).

  • Have a maximum of four different interview dates with a candidate.

  • Have a maximum of five interviewers.  Designate one person as the primary hiring authority and contact.

III.  Establish agreed upon time frames for the search:

  • Respond promptly when someone from the Pangaea hiring team contacts you.  During a search we often have questions asked of us that will need your input prior to being able to move a candidate forward.

  • The elapsed time frame for the entire hiring process should be no more than three weeks from hiring manager’s first exposure to candidate, to offer and acceptance by the “new hire.” Work towards this goal.

  • Respond with a "yes" or a "no" to an interview within 24 hours of being presented a candidate. (We send our quality candidates on multiples interviews when we work on a contingency contract, so we are unable to hold them while we are waiting for a response.)

  • Interview the candidate by phone or in person within five days of being presented with and accepting the individual into the hiring pool.

  • Call your search consultant within four hours of the conclusion of an interview.  We cannot manage a candidate's expectations/mindset without timely communication with you.

  • Take action with a verbal offer or declination within 24 hours after the last interview with a candidate.

  • Provide a written offer through Pangaea to the candidate within 48 hours of the verbal offer being presented to the candidate.
